Celeste suggests that the garou are actually Nephilim (see wikipedia on Nephilim), who are biblical giants? Or possibly fallen angels? They are disputed. Possibly created when Angels known as "The Watchers" who were entrusted with keeping an eye on mankind fell in love with human women, this suggests why Garou have the holy mission of protecting the world and keep an eye on humanity.
